The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for the submission of political parties membership registers ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision, announced in a statement on Friday March 27, follows concerns raised by political parties over the earlier timeline.
INEC said the deadline has been moved from April 21 to May 10, 2026, inline with the Electoral Act, which requires submission at least 21 days before party primaries.
Political parties are to conduct their primaries between April 23 and May 30, 2026.
The Commission urged strict compliance with the revised timetable to ensure a smooth electoral process.
