Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has reshuffled Borno’s cabinet, assigning portfolios to 10 new commissioners and appointing a new Acting Chief of Staff to drive the state’s long-term development agenda.
The changes place Engr. Dr. Babagana Mustapha Mallumbe, formerly Deputy Chief of Staff, in the role of Acting Chief of Staff.
According to the Government House, the postings are aimed at strengthening governance structures and speeding up implementation of the administration’s 25-year Development Plan and 10-year Strategic Transformation Initiatives.
The new lineup includes technical and policy hands across key sectors.
Prof. Baba Mallam Gana takes Health and Human Services, while Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe heads Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation.
Finance and Economic Development goes to Hon. Umar Lawan Dalorima, and Budget and Planning to Hon. Bukar Mustapha Dalatu.
Security and communications are under Prof. Usman A. Tar as Commissioner of Information and Internal Security.
Barr. Hauwa Abubakar becomes Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.Women and youth feature prominently in the reshuffle.
Hajiya Zuwaira Gambo will lead Women Affairs and Social Development, and Hon. Saina Buba takes Youths, Sports, and Poverty Alleviation.
Other portfolios include Local Government and Emirate Affairs under Hon. Sugun Mai Mele, and Transport and Energy under Hon. Aliyu Mohammed Lawan Buba.
The statement, signed by Secretary to the State Government Bukar Tijani, said all commissioners are to assume office immediately.
The appointments come as Borno pushes to consolidate post-insurgency recovery and expand public services under its long-term development framework.
