The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a man, Nuhu Dahiru, for allegedly impersonating its operative and obtaining N3 million from members of the public under false presence in Maiduguri, Borno Stare
The EFCC disclosed this in a statement posted on its X handle on Monday, August 10.
The suspect.was arrested at Tashan Bama, along Bama Road in Maiduguri, Borno State, following credible intelligence that he had been presenting himself as an EFCC officer and defrauding unsuspecting members of the public. The EFCC said N3 million was discovered from Dahiru during the arrest.

The agency said the recovery forms part of the onboarding investigation into the circumstances surrounding the impersonation, the source and the funds.
The EFCC and Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has repeatedly warned members of the public to verify the identity of individuals who claim to be its officials, particularly when such persons demand money for other forms of official assistance in connection with investigations.
The suspect remains in EFCC custody while investigators work to establish the full extent of his activities and determine whether other individuals were involved.
The commission said Dahiru would be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigations.
