The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has alerted Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, that President Bola Tinubu is allegedly determined to see him lose Saturday’s governorship election.
Ayodele made the claim in a statement issued on Tuesday by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, ahead of the August 15 election.
The cleric urged Adeleke not to believe claims that President Tinubu is not interested in the outcome of the election.
According to him, Tinubu is closely monitoring developments in Osun and allegedly wants Adeleke removed from office.
Ayodele further cautioned that losing the election could make any subsequent legal challenge difficult for the governor.
He also alleged that the All Progressives Congress would deploy substantial financial resources, political influence and the power of the presidency during the election.
The cleric described the contest as a tough battle for Adeleke and urged him to remain vigilant.
He advised the governor to operate within the law and take every legitimate step necessary to protect his chances of retaining office.
The warning comes amid the political controversy over the recent freezing of Osun State government accounts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and subsequent intervention in the matter.
