The Executive Chairman of Etche Local Government area of Rivers state Hon. Chima Boniface Njoku, has restored hope to two residents facing life-changing challenges after extending a combined ₦5 million humanitarian support, medical assistance, mobility aid and an employment appointment to the beneficiaries.
In a major gesture of support, Hon. Njoku presented ₦3 million and a brand-new wheelchair to ASP Daniel Njoku, a police officer from Amaku-Igbodo in Etche, who sustained serious injuries after he was reportedly shot by unknown gunmen while performing his official duties.
The Council Chairman also undertook the full medical treatment of the injured police officer, ensuring that his medical needs were fully attended to. In a further demonstration of support, Hon. Njoku appointed ASP Daniel Njoku as one of his aides, providing him with an opportunity to continue contributing to society despite the challenges resulting from the attack.
In another humanitarian intervention, the Chairman presented ₦2 million to Mr. Samuel Onyenam Nweke of Umuechem, who suffered leg amputation. The financial assistance is expected to enable him establish a business and regain economic independence.
The interventions, totalling ₦5 million in direct financial assistance, together with the wheelchair, full medical treatment and appointment, have been described as significant efforts towards restoring dignity, hope and livelihood to vulnerable members of the community.
The beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation to Hon. Chima Boniface Njoku, commending his compassion and timely intervention at a critical period in their lives.
