Troops of Joint Task Force West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested three suspected terrorist logistics couriers and rescued 14 kidnapped victims during separate operations in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The Three suspects were intercepted on September 24 while travelling on a motorcycle. Preliminary interrogation indicated that they were allegedly transporting N2.7 million suspected to be ransom money, along with three mobile phones, for onward transfer to a suspected terrorist kingpin through intermediaries in the area.

In another operation on September 25, troops acting on credible intelligence ambushed suspected terrorists in Faskari.The terrorists fled after an encounter with the troops, while a subsequent search led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, 30 rounds of ammunition and motorcycle.

The troops also rescued 14 kidnapped victims during a routine patrol in the area.The victims, comprising 12 males and two females were reportedly abducted from Anguwan Miko and Tofiki villages in Faskeri Local Government Area.

According to the military, the victims were abandoned by their captors after the terrorists sighted advancing troops. They were subsequently rescued and handed over to the Faskeri Local Government authorities for future necessary action, while the arrested suspects and recovered items remain in military custody for investigation.
