Security operatives in Katsina State have arrested a newly recruited Forest Guard trainee, Zahraddin Abdullahi Karadua, over allegations of supplying ammunition to individuals suspected to be bandits in Matazu Local Government Area.
Zahraddin, who is reportedly the son of the Maigarin Karadua, was arrested while undergoing training as Forest Guard.
Sources familiar with the matter alleged that he purchased and transported ammunition from a man identified as Muhammadu in Kano before transporting them to Karadua.
Another video reportedly showed Sahiba acknowledging that she received the ammunition from Zahraddin and subsequently took them to a suspected bandit camp near Maharba.
The arrest comes as security agencies intensify operations aimed at disrupting the supply networks providing weapons and other support to bandit groups operating in parts of Katsina State.
Zahraddin was reportedly among newly recruited Forest Guards undergoing training under government programme designed to strengthen forest security and protect local communities.
Following his arrest, he was reportedly handed over to the relevant security authorities for further investigation.
The investigation is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged ammunition supply and determine whether other individuals were involved.
Any allegations remain subject to investigation and due process, and the suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
