LAFIA — The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested three men over the alleged use of a fake identification card belonging to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). The police also recovered an unregistered Lexus IS 250 during the operation.
The suspects, identified as Mohammed Umar, Mohammed Nuhu and Ibrahim Suleiman, were arrested by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit during a routine patrol around Bukan Sidi, Lafia.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Ramhan Nansel, the officers stopped the vehicle because it had no registration number.
During questioning, Mohammed Umar, was asked about the ownership of the vehicle, he could not provide a satisfactory explanation.

The police said further checks revealed that the ICPC identification card presented by Nuhu was allegedly forged.
Nuhu reportedly told the police that he accompanied the driver from Kaduna State to Lafia because the driver did not have a valid driver’s licence.
The police also said their profiling of the suspects linked Ibrahim Suleiman to an alleged unlawful group known as the Eiye Confraternity.
The police said they would be charged to court after the investigation, while efforts are ongoing to establish the actual ownership of the Lexus and determine whether the suspects were involved in other offences.
The Commissioner of Police, Shettima Jauro Mohamed, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to fighting crime and maintaining security across Nasarawa State.
The police also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
