The Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, FNSE, FNATE yesterday at Ebonyi State EXCO Chambers, Abakaliki received the unique children from a well crafted and newly established King David Gifted Academy.
The academy is a catch them young strategy of Governor Umahi which is aimed at fishing out talented and brilliant children from different backgrounds and schools who have been observed to be gifted in unique ways.
The governor while receiving them said that their curriculum will be different from the normal curriculum as they will be taught both in Indian and Chinese languages to make them outstanding.
The target is to fish out the best from the best, the children with high Intelligence Quotient and ensure that they will not lack anything in line with the requirements for their academical growth.
Explaining what the institution is all about, the Governor said, ” we are selecting the first class brains from all the schools in Ebonyi State.
“We partnered with the Examination Development Center who is incharge of common entrance examination.
“We requested that they give us the best in the record of their last examination according to performance.
“When they gave us the list, we selected from all the LGA’s in Ebonyi state and conducted exams for them which we used and made the final selection.”
” In the plan for the students; the state government will take care of everything that the Gifted Kids will need which includes their school fees, uniform, feeding, foot wears, medical etc. So, what the parents owe the children is to bring them to school and the rest is taken care of by the state government.”
Governor Umahi added that the Children are targeted to be front runners who can compete favourably with any other state across the country and even on international levels.
