Ndi Anambra have been urged to always reach out to Persons Living With Disabilities in this COVID-19 pandemic.
The Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Disability Matters Mr Chukwuka Ezewuzie made the call when the leadership of the Joint National Association of Persons Living with Disability in Anambra State paid him a courtesy call in Awka.
Welcoming the Association who came to brief him on the successful distribution of the COVID-19 palliatives provided by Governor Willie Obiano and the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, to Persons Living with Disability in the twenty-one local government areas of the State, Mr Ezewuzie a lawyer thanked Governor Obiano for his love and care for the Disability Community in Anambra State.
The Special Adviser appreciated the Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Ebelechukwu for her love and support to Persons Living with Disability and indigent persons in the society and appealed to Ndi Anambra to always remember the poor, vulnerable and disabled persons in the distribution of COVID-19 palliatives.
He equally briefed members of the Association on how to stay safe during the Coronavirus pandemic and encouraged them to pass the information to all their co-ordinators for grassroots dissemination.
Earlier, the Anambra State Chairman of the Association, Comrade Ugochukwu Okeke, who was accompanied by Comrade Amobi Nwagwu and Comrade Ernest Okanmelu, the State Chairman of the National Association of the Deaf and National Association of the Blind respectively extolled the magnanimity of Governor Obiano and that of the National leadership of All Progressives Grand Alliance for remembering Persons Living with Disability in this critical time.
The leadership of the Association accompanied by Disability Group Cluster Heads had earlier visited the various local government areas with relief items including bags of rice, noodles, bottles of hand sanitizers and cash for distribution among their members.
Communication during the visit was made simple by the Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Sign Language Communication, Mr. Joseph Collins.
