Despite embarking on series of damaging writings on social media platforms about severance allowances and other related financial matters allegedly withheld by the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, the ex-lawmaker of the House, Hon Maria Ude Nwachi has returned to social media platforms and exonerated Governor David Nweze Umahi from the impasse.
Nwachi, who represented Afikpo Northeast Constituency between 2015-2019 could not make it for a second tenure as a lawmaker.
Recall that for over 6 months, Nwachi has been calling on the general public, key political actors and civil organisations to prevail on the state executive to pay her accumulated entitlements alongside her aides.
According to her, such pleas have serially met brick walls.
But in a twist of event, the quondam lawmaker expressed heartfelt gratitude to Governor David Umahi, whom she said, was wrongly mentioned in her travails with the state’s legislature.
She said: “to avoid misinformation; this is my latest! My governor kindly addressed the matter of my severance pay in a fatherly fashion a few days ago in a broadcast.
” He advised that the Speaker handle the issue; as he was not aware of it. My Speaker just did that. The severance pay of my two former aides and mine will be paid, hopefully, this week.
“The rest of the money was not part of this particular of this discourse.
“Thank you all for your concern. I truly appreciate, I also thanked my Governor and my speaker”.
