Residents of Lamu wake up to distressing incident after a boyfriend allegedly shot dead a woman and her baby.
The woman identified as Sheila Mokaya was killed by her lover alongside her 5-year-old daughter after a heated argument.
The boyfriend, who is a police officer with Kenya Police, open fire on the deceased who is a teacher at Mukunguni Junior School, and her daughter in the early hours of Sunday killing them at the spot.
According to reports, the General Service Unit (CSU) officer turned the the gun of himself after committing the act.
The officer also killed himself at the spot, making it a murder-suicide situation.
Although the motive behind the murder-suicide cannot be ascertained but the Lamu County Police Commander Mr Kipsang Chanhach confirmed the incident, said they have launched the an investigation into the matter and will issue a statement at the appropriate time.
