Akwa Ibom NSCDC Strikes Synergy With NUJ

The Akwa Ibom State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC has assured the members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Federated Chapel of the corps willingness to synergize relationship with the Union to achieve public good through the Chapel.
The State Commandment of the Corps, Mr. Abidemi Majekodunmi gave assurance while addressing the Executives and members of the chapel led by its Chairman, Comrade Nsibiet John in his office. Saying that “The role of journalists in national development and nation building is very significant. I can see that your team is well selected and I can tell you that with this quality of persons, you will achieve greatness for your chapel.
“There is no doubt about the fact that journalists must work together with all organs of government. Development is the main import of public private partnership.
“As a corps, we have the responsibility to ensure peaceful coexistence of members of society. Our mandate gives us the responsibility of protecting public infrastructures against activities of vandals and foiling their attempts to disrupt peace.
“It is a natural reality that the good, the bad and the ugly will always exist in society. Only strong institutional structures can guarantee proper control of infractions by bad elements.
“Without security, there can be no development. It is only through the framework of interaction that we can reduce the misconceptions that people have about security agencies.
“I count it a rare privilege to host you and I assure you that this partnership is critical to our mission as distinct organs of government. This is why we must work together to achieve common goal for the overall growth and development of our nation. I thank you for coming and be rest assured we are happy to work with you”, he said.
Earlier, the Chairman of the chapel, Comrade Nsibiet John explained that the essence of the visit to the command was to familiarize the new executives and members of the chapel with the State Commandant and to institute friendship.
Comrade John while unveiling his administration’s plan to organize seminars and retreats for members of the chapel, invited the corps to attend the retreat and seminar of the chapel scheduled to hold on April 26, 2022.
“We will be organizing a retreat with the theme, ‘Media Appraisal and Self Development’. The event would be chaired by the Chancellor of Ibom Patriots, Obong Bassey Inuaeyen, with the state commissioner for information and strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong in attendance.

I commend the commandant because the civil defense in Akwa Ibom State has done creditably well and I congratulate you for ensuring that men of the corps are conscientious in going about their duties.
The familiarization visit of the Federated Chapel was witness by the Head, Administration, DC Isa Andrew; the HOD, Intelligence and Investigation, DC Gabriel Lorker; the HOD, Private Guard Company, ACC Emmanuel Peters, HOD, Critical National Asset and Infrastructure, ACC Essien Mercy, and the PRO, DSc Friday Ekerette.
The executives of the chapel at the visit were the vice chairman, Imoh Etukuko; the secretary, Emmanuel Ntekim and the auditor, Otobong Nsekpong. Other members were Enobong Ibanga, Akwaowo Akpan, Aniema Akpan and Joseph Atainyang.
