The Nigerian Blogger, Dominic Edem aka DEE, is very angry with Akwa Ibom State Government over the way flood took over the state without any action from the government. DEE stated this on Sunday, that Akwa Ibom State Government has totally abandoned, ignored and shown completely less concern about the situation in some parts of the state.
DEE in his statement said:
I am not aganist Governor Udom Emmanuel’s Administration; he has tried for Uruan people more than the past (Akpabio’s) Government. He has blessed Uruan indigenous people with many appointments. Kudos to him! However, I must not deny the truth that, having money without having an effective use put to it, is useless on its own. The act of His Execllency, Udom Emmanuel, giving Uruan indigenes many appointments is very good, but that cannot, in the long run, solve the common problems of the indigenous people, but having good road can go a long way helping both the poor and the rich.
In Udom’s first term, he started a very good road construction from Anua Uyo to Issiet in Uruan LGA, but he later stopped, ignored, and abandoned that road project , and that abandoned road project has caused a lot of flooding in that Axis, especially, Ekpene Ibia Uruan Local Government Area. Ekpene Ibia Uruan was not known as flooded village, but now Ekpene Ibia has turned into Ekpene River because of the abandoned road project. Once there is rainfall, almost all the parts of the community will be filled with flood.
In last year, 2019, Ekpene Ibia was so terribly affected by this, and was an eyesore that some media got it reported. In this year, 2020, the story has not changed: it’s still the same thing, even worse than last year’s. On 20/7/2020, more than half of the village was flooded,so much that many houses, shops, and other items of property Worth billion of naria were reported to have been destroyed; yet Akwa Ibom State Government did nothing about it.
