The State Director, National Orientation Agency, NOA, Anambra state Directorate, Awka, Barrister Charles Nwoji, has underscored the importance of establishment of Disabilities Rights Commission by Anambra state government as contained in the Anambra State Disability Rights Law 2018.
Barrister Nwoji, who was speaking with Newsmen in his office in Awka, felicitated with the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Anambra State Chapter as they join their colleagues all over the world in celebrating 2020 International Day of Persons Living with Disabilities in the State.
Barrister Nwoji, noted that the Leadership of NOA in the State would work towards creating robust awareness on the Anambra State Disability Rights Law 2018, adding that the establishment of the Disabilities Rights Commission would facilitate smooth management of the affairs of the Persons living with Disabilities in Anambra State.
The NOA boss, who also spoke on the mutual relationship between NOA and the Leadership of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Anambra State Chapter over the years, assured that NOA would work towards making every necessary provision for inclusion of persons Living with Disability in the Agency’s team during its routine public enlightenment programmes at the grassroots to enhance effective communication of Government Programmes and Policies through sign language and every other necessary medium.
He further stated that NOA would equally, encourage its officers both at the State and Local Government Levels to acquire basic knowledge of the sign language and Disability Etiquettes to facilitate easy communication at any function organized by NOA at the State and Local Government Levels.
