Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to sustained engagement with religious leaders, traditional institutions, community stakeholders and other critical partners as part of efforts to strengthen public trust, enhance community relations and promote a safer environment across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, psc, mnips, reaffirmed this commitment on Wednesday, 21st October 2026, while receiving the Spiritual Director of the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, Odùmẹjẹ, during a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters in Awka.
The Commissioner of Police emphasised that effective policing depends on public cooperation, mutual trust and strong partnerships between the Police and the communities they serve. He noted that religious leaders occupy an influential position in society and can contribute meaningfully to peacebuilding, conflict resolution, responsible conduct and the promotion of public safety.
CP Nnanna reiterated that the Command remains open to further constructive engagements with religious organisations and other community-based institutions, stressing that such partnerships are essential to encouraging credible intelligence sharing, peaceful coexistence and respect for the rule of law.
He assured the visiting cleric that the Command would continue to uphold professionalism, accountability and people-oriented policing. He also encouraged members of the public to provide timely and credible information to assist the Police in preventing crime, identifying security threats and responding effectively to emerging challenges.
The CP further explained that the Command’s approach to security extends beyond law enforcement to include dialogue, stakeholder collaboration and proactive engagement with the public. According to him, these measures are vital to addressing community concerns, strengthening public confidence and building a sustainable foundation for effective policing.
The visit featured prayers offered by the cleric and provided an opportunity to strengthen relations between the Police and the religious community in the collective pursuit of peace, security and harmonious coexistence throughout Anambra State.
