The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, psc, mnips, has called on the Anambra State Chapter of the Scout Association of Nigeria to actively partner with the Police in promoting public safety, preventing crime, and maintaining law and order across the State.
The Commissioner made the call on Tuesday, 20th October 2026, while receiving members of the Association on a courtesy visit to his office at the Command Headquarters, Awka. He emphasised the importance of strategic partnerships, community participation, and collective responsibility in addressing security challenges and creating a safer environment for residents.
CP Nnanna noted that effective policing requires more than the conventional efforts of security agencies, stressing that organised groups, youth associations, community-based organisations, and other stakeholders have important roles to play in identifying security concerns, providing credible information, and supporting crime-prevention initiatives.
He urged the Scout Association to leverage its organisational structure, discipline, and community presence to promote safety awareness, responsible citizenship, peaceful coexistence, and the protection of lives and property, particularly among young people.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to strengthening community-based policing through inclusive stakeholder engagement, noting that credible intelligence and timely information from members of the public remain essential to preventing crime and maintaining public order.
He assured the Association of the Command’s readiness to sustain mutually beneficial engagements that would deepen public trust and cooperation with the Police. He also urged members of the Association to conduct their activities within the ambit of the law and promptly report suspicious activities to the appropriate security authorities.
