Anambra Youths Group launch Scholarship scheme

…..Okofia Progressive Youths movement Launch Scholarship Scheme, Aiming to Provide Education for Indigent Students

In a move aimed at promoting education and empowering child education in Anambra State, the Okofia Progressive Youths movement have launched a scholarship scheme, which will provide opportunities for indigent students in the community who are willing to go to school but does not have the means or financial muscle to back it up, as a result of the hash economic situation in Nigeria. The inauguration of the first batch of the scholarship scheme took place at okofia Hall, April 23th, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the quest for accessible education.

The initiative, which is targeted at helping indigent students to secondary school level depending on the supports from groups or individuals towards the organisation.
The organization however started their support with ten well-selected students based on both applications and merit. Hon. Amobi Okonkwo( Anunuebe Nnewi), President of Okofia Progressive Youths movement, addressed the beneficiaries during the inauguration, urging them to uphold the honor of Okofia and Nnewi by making the most use of the opportunity presented to them through the scholarship scheme. Also, he however pleaded for supports and partnership towards the sustainability of the programme.

Expressing gratitude for the initiative, one of the beneficiaries, Miss chiamaka okonkwo shared her heartfelt prayers for the youths behind the scholarship scheme, emphasizing the transformative impact it will have on their lives and futures. Some of the students who are beneficiaries are
Sopuruchukwu ibeh,
Nwachukwu ifechukwu, Anthony nachimkaobimdi okeke, Ozichukwu chukwukamsimma, Ozichukwu chukwubuikem, Chinwemeri Esther ejebi, Miracle Ulasi, Chiamaka okonkwo etc.

Amidst the excitement and anticipation, one of the parent, Mrs. Nwakaego, representing other parents present at the event, could not contain her joy as she spoke glowingly about the initiative. She commended the Okofia youths for their vision and dedication to ensuring that every child in the community has access to basic education. She also stressed that such initiative is the first of it’s kind in the community and pray that God will forever help them to achieve more greater heights in all their endeavors.

Also, the President of Okofia progressive Youths movement, Hon. Amobi Okonkwo (Anunuebe Nnewi) reiterated the importance of the scholarship scheme in bridging educational gaps within the community. He expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to launch such an impactful initiative and called on men of goodwill in Okofia, Nnewi, and Anambra at large to support and partner with them in expanding the reach of the scholarship scheme. He also acknowledged the efforts of individuals and groups who have earlier supported their vision.

Addressing newsmen, the Secretary of Okofia progressive Youths Movement, Mr. Chinedu Osunmuo, addressed journalists during the event, highlighting the importance of promoting girl child education and ensuring equal opportunities for all children in the community. He also promised that the process of selection will always be transparent and also encouraged parents to always provide an enabling environment for their children to learn. When it’s time for your child to read his book “do not send him or her to go and start hawking in the market” he added.

In one of the remarkable statememts made by the President okofia progressive Youths Movement, he said, “As the Okofia progressive Youths Movement embark on this noble endeavor, they stand as beacons of hope and agents of change, reaffirming their commitment to the welfare and development of the younger generation. With the launch of this scholarship scheme, we’re paving the way for a brighter future, where every child has the opportunity to fulfill their potential through education” he added.

It is also important to note that the youths has achieved many developmental strides in the community such as installations of solar power street lights, rehabilitation of igiligi Anaedo roundabouts, erecting the status of late chief Benmore okoli (igirigi Anaedo), as well as supports to security, he said.
