APC UK Chapter Hosts International Women’s Day Conference 2025 in London

The APC UK Chapter successfully hosted its International Women’s Day Conference 2025, with a keynote address delivered by the APC UK Women’s Leader, Hon. Taiwo Susan Jegunmah.

The event, themed “Empowering Diaspora Women for Leadership and Nation Building,” aligned with the United Nations’ 2025 theme: “For All Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.

“In her opening remarks, Hon. Jegunmah emphasized the importance of women’s rights and the need for gender equality in leadership and governance. She stated,

“As a diaspora chapter of Nigeria’s governing party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), we have a duty to remind our party leaders and colleagues in government of the rights of women and girls.

These rights are not just about equality but also about empowerment.”She further acknowledged the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, describing it as the most progressive blueprint for advancing women’s and girls’ rights globally.

She urged Nigerian policymakers and leaders to continue prioritizing policies that uplift women and ensure their inclusion in decision-making.

The conference, attended by notable women leaders, professionals, and advocates, featured engaging discussions, workshops, and networking sessions aimed at equipping women in the diaspora with leadership skills.

Hon. Jegunmah commended the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, for her continuous efforts in promoting gender inclusivity in governance.

As the event concluded, the APC UK Women’s Leader expressed gratitude to all attendees and facilitators, encouraging women to actively engage in political and community leadership.

“Together, we can build a future where women are not only included but lead in shaping policies and governance,” she said.The APC UK Chapter International Women’s Day Conference 2025 reinforced the party’s commitment to women’s empowerment, setting a strong precedent for future engagements in advancing gender equality and leadership development.
