APP members rally around Port Harcourt after dynamite attack on secretariat, demand security ahead of LGA elections in Rivers

The Rivers State Secretariat of the Action People’s Party (APP) was thrown into chaos today, 12th August 2024, following a devastating dynamite attack in the early hours. The aftermath was a scene of destruction as APP National Chairman, Barr. Uchenna Nnadi, and Acting State Chairman, Hon. Sunny N. Wokekoro, arrived to assess the damage.

Barr. Uchenna Nnadi, visibly shaken by the attack, made an impassioned plea to the President, urging him to prioritize the protection of democracy in Nigeria. He emphasized the critical need for enhanced security measures, particularly in Rivers State, to safeguard the democratic process.

Hon. Sunny N. Wokekoro, addressing state security agencies with a stern resolve, demanded a thorough investigation into the attack. He insisted that no stone be left unturned in identifying and apprehending those responsible for this heinous act.

In a show of solidarity, Barr. Nnadi also expressed his gratitude to the Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, for his cooperation in maintaining peace and security ahead of the upcoming Local Government Elections scheduled for 5th October 2024. He commended the Governor’s efforts in promoting a peaceful electoral process and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between all stakeholders to ensure a smooth and transparent election, free from violence and intimidation.
