Armed bandits have made serious attacks in Maradun and Zurmi Local Government  Areas, displacing security operatives in the areas as over 80 communities have been displaced.

Surajo Magudu , a councillor in Maradun Local Government Council, who spoke to newsmen at the Maradun IDP camp, said that over 75 towns and villages had been sacked by the bandits.

He informed that there were over 25,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in two camps alone out of the six in all Maradun Local Government Area.

He explained that there were some towns and villages in the area where the government officials or security operatives could not access as they had been under the control of the bandits.

Surajo said that over 75 communities where the armed bandits had surrounded the communities to the extent that no one was allowed to escape from the communities, even as the bandits had cautioned the people not to brief security agencies.

He blamed the state government for the high rate of killings in the state, stressing that the governor had been ruling the state from outside, and had not been giving enough attention to issues of security.
