WHEN the country returned to the civil rule in 1999. there were positive excitements and hope but all these enthusiasms and hope conceived have been aborted. The country is now in a very critical condition, facing the danger of fragmentation, poor leadership and representation at all levels.

In spite of this loss of much confidence still there have not been without a few good ones who are undeniably performing as truly peoples servants. While their attendance in the political space equates to the voice of reason and are such catalysts of some of the dividend of democracy the electorates enjoying today.

One such rare breed politician is Hon Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya a member Representing Ajingi, Albasu and Gaya federal constituency. His political trajectory is such that is laced with grace as impact and motivation to his constituency’s peoples and other politicians. His political carrier started in 2011 as Kano state commissioner of finance with his awesome performance was elected as a parliament member in the House of Representatives in 2015.

For the constituents peoples his election widely regarded by many as one of the most successful game-changer in the annals of the history of the constituency before him the constituency is being regarded as neglected in term of true representation. Ever since he became a member of the lower chamber has brought new Developmental Projects and Standout among former lawmakers that have been in the House before him. He has lived up to becoming one of the most performing the constituency ever produced considering the indelible impact that trailed his representation in term of the dividend of democracy he able in provided to the constituents.

Honourable Abdullahi Mahmud has also been a constant, stabilising factor in the 8th and 9th National Assembly, following his numerous interventions and mediations on critical national issues affecting the national economic wellbeing.

In the 8th Assembly, he headed Ad Hoc Committee to Investigate Debts Amounting to over N500 Billion allegedly owed to the Petroleum Pipeline Marketing Company (PPMC) by Oil Marketers. headed the committee.

He was among the 16-WISE MAN Tactical Committee on Economic Recession Recovery. During the committee seating, he has greatly helping the country to combat the challenges faced by the Nigeria economy and also interface with Government Ministries, Agencies and Departments as well as interact with the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Nigeria Labor Congress, Civil Society Organizations and any other stakeholders that have been considered relevant in the bid to arrest the recession and return the economy to the path of growth and stability.

When Nigerian Customs Service issued directives that no petroleum products permitted to be discharged in any filling station within 20 kilometres to the border. As a result, of these directives inhabitants of these border towns are already feeling the brunt of the border closure.

House speaker mandated the Joint Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), to engage the Minister of Interior, the Minister of State for Petroleum, the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs and the Group Managing Director of National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Petroleum Resources (DPR) Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and other stakeholders in finding last solutions to the borders communities. His calmness and maturity have earned him respect amongst friends and colleagues.

His dividend of democracy to the constituency speaks louder and has set himself goals that prioritize the development of education, health, Infrastructure, youths and women empowerment in the constituents. Hon Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya has constructed Girls Junior Secondary at Faragai, Shagogo, Chula, Dagagi, Gamarya, Tsangaya, and Karar Dagagi. Boys Technical secondary school at Kademi. At primary schools also constructed primary school at Malamawa and also provided furniture in all these schools classroom.

All these projects have been completed and commissioned. He also built blocks of classrooms in 23 out of 30 wards in the constituents which will be commissioned soon. Annually, he purchased final year examination forms of the National Examination Council, West African Examination Council and Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination forms to hundreds of students in the three local government.

However, in youth development, honourable Abdullahi has secured hundreds of youth jobs, including Army, Navy, Airforce, Police, Civil Defence, CBN, PHCN and other places at the state and federal level. For those with no formal education, honourable has provided soft skills training, cold rooms, machines for irrigation farming, and agricultural support to thousands of youth in the constituent to fight unemployment.

Henceforth AMG Women Economic Empowerment Program (WEEP), is a program specifically created by Honorable Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya in order to help women in the constituents. To undergoing various programs aimed at empowered women on self-reliance. Moreover, he has distributed hundreds of sewing machines to women with 5000 Naira as seed capital.

1000 women were also trained on modern goat rearing with N20,000 each as start-off capital. More than 1500 got to poultry farming, 1500 women undergoing various trained on different economic empowerment programs with N20,000 naira as capital. He also designed a special program for the woman that lost her husband with empowerment in order to take care of their children and while other gotten Saloon kits to start saloon businesses. Toward strengthened the security of lives and properties across the constituents 163 solar street light provided. Building a new block Police Divisional station and fully furnished in Gaya local government waiting for the commission. While a substantial among of funds provided towards rehabilitation security facilities across the three local government areas. In fact, it worth elucidating that a parliamentarian has overcome all manner of obstacles to touch the lives of the people of the constituency, and throughout six years of legislative stewardship.

Finally, Hon Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya’s is a rare humanist Politician whose actions are exceptional gifts that any societies would crave to benefit from. Undeniably dissecting Hon Mahmud Gaya’s performance for taking dividend of democracy to his constituency’s peoples doorstep as their representatives in line with yearnings of constituents aspirations.

Since 2015 he defining and exhibiting what a humanist and progressive politician should be. It is a well-known fact that he has shown how capable with evidence of giant both human and capital projects executing in the three Local Governments Areas.
