ASTPA disowns Obiano, others . Says ours is to support good governance in Anambra

The Abuja chapter of Anambra State Towns People Association (ASTPA) has said that they don’t have any of the governorship contestants in Anambra State as a consensus candidate, add-ing that their primary duty was to support and promote good governance in the state.
This was made known to the press by the Association’s spokesman, Engr. Chukwuma Onyeme-likeya during the picking of form to run for second term by Governor Willy Obiano of the state under the platform of his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) at the party’s na-tional secretariat in Abuja recently.
Governorship elections in Anambra State had been slated for 18 November, 2017.
When asked, Onyemelikeya however informed that ASTPA, being a non-political Association does not have a consensus candidate. He said that each member has right to a candidate of his or her choice.
According to him, “ASTPA is not a political organisation. In ASTPA, we believe in promotion and support of good governance, because any person that is doing well, we support and promote his good works. I can’t say categorically that ASTPA is for the PDP, APGA, APC or any person from any party. Every individual has his or her own candidate, even as he urged Governor Obiano of the state to address bad condition of the roads in Dunkofia Local Government and environs.
The spokesman therefore called on all contestants not to see the contest as a do or die affair, even as he added that power comes from God. “Anybody that wants to serve the people should do that in line with the will and wish of God. Go into contest with fear of God. Do not see it as do or die affairs,” he advised.
