The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, has urged Nigerians to be respectful when addressing their concerns to leaders, emphasizing that insults will not bring solution.
Speaking during the Sallah message at the Fokon Idi Eid prayer ground on Sunday, the Sultan advised citizens to express their grievances politely, as leaders are more likely to respond positively when approached with respect.
“It is important to tell our leaders when there is a problem, but we should avoid abusive words, If you insult your leader, how can you expect him to help you? But If you speak politely, he will listen and take action”.
He also called on Nigerians to pray for their leaders at all levels, including the President, Governors, Local Government Chairmen, and Lawmakers, asking God to guide them in fulfilling their responsibilities.
Additionally, the Sultan, who serves as the President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, congratulated Muslims on successful completion of the 29-day Ramadan fasting encouraging them to uphold the values of the holy month and avoid returning to negative habits.
