Following the recent ban on the students of Auchi Polytechnic from driving private cars on campus is a welcome development to curtail the rough lives of students in the citadel of learning.

This therefore is expected to be replicated in all other colleges of Education, Polythecnics and Universities all over the country.

In a chart with 9News Nigeria, it was revealed that the show of might and wealthy living among students is the cause of corruption in the early stage of students life.

The pundits recalled the several times students distract public attention and study times driving recklessly in school environment and causing accidents within the school area.

And their likes in the lower schools are emulating such a decadent to live big in secondary schools.

On this therefore, the management of the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State, has banned students from driving private cars on campus.

The polytechnic, in a circular dated 9th March, 2021, and endorsed by the Register, Dr. G. E. Ihiokhan, said it took the measure based on “intelligence reports”.

“Following intelligence reports received by management, it has become expedient to put the following measures in place with effect from Wednesday, 10th March, 2021”, the circular read.

“Students are not to bring in their vehicles in the campus; Security check will be carried out by both staff of the security unit and the police at the various entrance point of the Polytechnic”, it added.

The circular advised all students to always carry their identity cards while on the school’s campus to separate the chaff from the corn.

This is a good way forward to match laws with action and advice the legislators to make this act possible to discipline the students.
