One of the Greenfield University students kidnapped by Bandits in Kaduna state was released after a whooping ransom of 20Million was paid, 9News Nigeria learnt.

While 9News Nigeria has not been able to confirm the story from the family, a source close to the family whose son was among the kidnapped students broke the news in a message made available to 9News Nigeria.

The source who did not reveal his identity has sent the video of the male student being received by his mother and family after he was released and sent to them. He then sent the message that read: “The mother to the boy above is my family friend, her son was kidnapped in a private university in Kaduna, he was released this morning after paying #20 million ransom.”

The Greenfield University students were kidnapped by gunmen usually known as bandits in Kaduna state a few weeks ago. The bandits had demanded millions of naira in ransom to release the students.

But the Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai said that the state government will never pay any money to the bandits, but assured that they will do everything other than paying money to secure the kidnapped students. “We will not give them any money and they will not make any profit from Kaduna,” El-Rufai affirmed.

About 3 out of the 20 students who were kidnapped were later found dead after the bandits made a shocking video warning that further delay to pay ransom to them will result in the killing of the rest students under their captivity.
