Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin has commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the recapitalization of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA) with ₦1.5 trillion.
Barau gave the commendation after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BOA for a ₦2.79 billion loan scheme aimed at empowering 558 young farmers across the North-West geopolitical zone.
According to him, the recapitalization of BOA underscores Tinubu’s commitment to enhancing agriculture and ensuring food security in the country.
He described it as a significant step towards boosting Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
“The boosting of agriculture through the recapitalization of the Bank of Agriculture with ₦1.5 trillion, as contained in the ₦54.9 trillion 2025 budget, is highly commendable.
“This demonstrates President Tinubu’s passion for transforming Nigeria’s agricultural fortunes for the better,” Barau stated.
The MoU, signed under the Barau I. Jibrin Foundation (BIJF), is designed to support 558 young farmers across the seven states and 186 local government areas of the North-West.
Barau emphasized that the scheme would leverage the increased capital base of BOA to revolutionize agriculture in the country, complementing the Federal Government’s policies on food security and sufficiency.
“This initiative is geared towards transforming agriculture in Nigeria, particularly in the North-West, and ensuring that young farmers have access to the necessary resources to thrive,” he added.
