Jos — Hon. Dachung Musa Bogos has again emerged as the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections, following a fresh primary election on Wednesday, notwithstanding a subsisting Federal High Court order directing the party to conduct new primaries in 11 wards.
Bogos’s re-emergence comes against the backdrop of a legal tussle challenging the validity of the APC primary that initially produced him as candidate. The Federal High Court sitting in Jos, presided over by Justice Dorcas Agishi, had ordered the APC to conduct fresh primaries in 11 wards within 30 days, in a suit instituted by Hon. Esther Bitrus Danboyi.
The wards are Du, Shen, Zawan ‘B’, Fobur ‘A’, Fobur ‘B’, Jarawan Kogi, Mai Juju, Turu, Federe, Shere East and Shere West.
Although the Electoral Committee for the elections, headed by Dr. Simon Karu, is yet to officially declare the outcome as at the time of filing this report, however, results collated so far from the exercise indicate that Bogos secured a decisive and overwhelming victory in 19 wards with over Five Thousands Votes against his closest rival, Esther Danboyi who polled about One Thousand votes, thereby consolidating his candidacy for the Jos South/Jos East seat in the House of Representatives.
Meanwhile, many constituents within the Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency have welcomed the development, describing Bagos’s emergence as a strategic move in the overall interest of the APC on the Plateau.
Political pundits also note that the just-concluded exercise has further boosted Dachung Musa Bogos’s popularity, not only within his immediate constituency but across the entire Plateau State, owing to his vocal prowess and impactful antecedents in the Green Chamber.
