The Borno State Council for Arts and Culture, has announced the cancellation of all Sallah festivities earlier scheduled to hold the Open-Air Theatre in Maiduguri, Borno State.
In a public notice dated March 19, 2026, the council stated that the suspension affects all cultural performances, public gatherings, and related activities planned for the Sallah period at the venue.
The decision, according to the council, is a proactive measure aimed at averting potential security threats and ensuring the safety of residents during the festive season.
It added that the move is in support of ongoing efforts by state security agencies to maintain peace and order.
The council urged members of the public to comply with the directive and avoid gathering at the venue, while encouraging residents to celebrate the Sallah peacefully with their families.
Management also expressed regret over any inconveniences caused to performers, cultural groups, and general public, wishing residents a safe and joyous celebration.
