The Borno State Security Forum has paid a condolence visit to the headquarters of 7 Division, Nigerian Army, in Maiduguri, over the demise of the former Chief Of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.
The forum was led by the Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Mohammed Yusufu.
In his remarks, the CP described the late COAS as a remarkable officer, known for his courage, professionalism, and dedication to service.
He also highlighted the outpouring of tributes and condolences as a testament to the late COAS’s exemplary character and significant contributions to the nation.Yusufu described Lagbaja as a ”fine, gentle, courageous, and proficient senior officer who made the Nigerian Army and nation proud.”
In a press statement issued by spokesman of the 7 Division, Lieutenant Colonel AY. Jingina, the acting General Officer Commanding the division and Commander of Sector One Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Abubakar Haruna, received the delegation, while expressing deep sorrow over the loss of his colleague and friend.
He also recalled their time together at the military academy and emphasized the impact of the late COAS on the Nigerian Army.
According to the statement, the GOC “urged all security agencies to remain steadfast in their efforts to combat insurgency, particularly as the dry season approaches.”
While calling for continued synergy and cooperation with security forces to ensure lasting peace in Borno and the northeast region, the GOC emphasized the importance of cooperation in the fight against insurgency, especially in the dry season.
