A 44 years old Bassirou Diomaye Faye has won the Presidential elections in Senegal. This indeed is a record broken in the history of African political elections.
The incumbent President Macky Sall, whose tenure ends on April 2, 2024 imprisoned him on charges of “spreading false news and contempt of court” to disqualify him from running but the people of Senegal held firm in their support.
His main “backer”, Ousmane Sonko (49 years) was also imprisoned on charges to stop him from contesting in the poll. Today, he is the real hero and victor. His release from Prison marked the real turning point for Faye.
Macky Sall tried to postpone the elections, but Senegalese took to the streets and their voices resounded all over Afri, despite losing some people and Gender Based Violence against women’s leading voices, the people, particularly women were resilient.
Today, the 44-year-old tax inspector is going to be sworn in as the President of Senegal by the victory recorded in the election.
Bassirou Diomaye Faye becomes the youngest elected president in the country’s history. He is 44Years old and an opposition candidate at the just concluded Senegalese 2024 Presidential Election as 9News Nigeria reports.
