ABUJA- The actual whereabouts of the sacked Director of State Service, DSS, Alhaji Lawal Daura, is still unknown several hours after he was sacked yesterday by the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo.
Daura was reported to have been picked up and detained by men of the Nigeria Police Force but the arrest could not be confirmed even as at the time of filing this report.
The police authorities have maintained
sealed lips on whether he’s in their custody.
Reports in the media had claimed that he was taken into custody by operatives of the Police Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS and was being held at their headquarters at Guzape, Abuja but efforts at confirming the report proved abortive yesterday as neither the Force Headquarters nor the police anti-robbery unit could comment on it.
Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, refused to respond to Vanguar’s inquiry on Mr Daura’s whereabouts.
Several calls made to his mobile lines were not picked just as he refused to respond to a text message sent to him.
When Vanguard visited SARS headquarters at Guzape, Abuja, where Mr Daura is being reported to be detained, there was no unusual security surveillance by the operative to arouse suspicion that he could be there.
Several efforts were made by Vanguard to get a clue on whether the sacked DDS director was in custody but there was no breakthrough as people even after spending several hours hanging around the area.
