A renowned public opinion moulder and a retired school teacher, Dr. Mrs Nma Olebara has embarked on a three day hunger strike to press down her demands to be paid her 8 months unpaid pensions by the Mr. Hope Uzodimma APC led regime.
She made this known on her Facebook page where she narrated a gory and graphically troubling reasons why she embarked on the hunger strike. “How can I be eating when some of us are dying because they cannot afford their drugs and diet.” the renowned public affairs commentator queried.
Her statement read in full:
“Dr Mrs Nma Olebara embarks on a three day hunger strike because of non payment of 8 months pensions. How can I be eating when some of us are dying because they cannot afford their drugs and diet.
“The calls I received from three Pensioners this weekend led to this hunger strike. One said, “Doc, please help me, no matter how little, so that I can soak garri in water and drink, if i die without getting my money, my blood will be on the head of whoever that is holding my money”
“The 2nd one said, “I went to FMC and couldn’t buy the drugs prescribed worth 28,000”
“The 3rd said “Nma, sorry to disturb you again, any how, please, I will send my grandchild, please some cups of rice so that I can eat something before taking my drugs”
How can I be eating when my colleagues are hungry and dying.
How can I be sleeping when they cannot sleep?
“Am on a 3day hunger strike. May God come to our rescue. Please pray for Pensioners.” she concluded.
Recall that this is over 8 months since the inception of this regime when the Mallam Tanko led Supreme Court imposed Mr. Hope Uzodimma as the governor of Imo State and no pensioner has received his or her monthly salary ever since February Gov. Emeka Ihedioha was removed from office.
Recall also that when the pensioners protested against the non payment of their legitimate entitlements, Mr. Hope Uzodimma sent thugs to molest and flog them for protesting against the regime.
