Breaking: EFCC: Court discharges Bafarawa, two others

A Sokoto State High Court presided over by Justice Bello Abbas on Wednesday discharged former Governor Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa standing trial over a case filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Also discharged were Alhaji Salihu Maibuhu Gummi and Nasiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, a younger brother to the PDP presidential aspirant.

Justice Abbas while ruling on the case after arguments and submissions by counsels to both parties in the matter, said the arguments and evidences given by the prosecution Counsel lacked substance and proven weight and therefore, discharged and acquitted the accused persons.

Bafarawa had been standing trial for 8 years on a 22 count charge ranging from breach of trust, corruption and embezzlement of state funds.
