The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Timipre Sylva, former Governor of Bayelsa State and former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, wanted over an alleged $14.8 million fraud.
Our correspondent gathered that Sylva is wanted in connection with an alleged case of conspiracy and dishonest conversion of funds injected by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) into Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited for the construction of a refinery.

The announcement follows a November 6, 2025, warrant issued by the Lagos State High Court.
The EFCC has urged anyone with information about Sylva’s whereabouts to contact its offices in major cities.
Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity for the EFCC, emphasised the importance of public cooperation in ensuring Sylva’s apprehension.
