Today, 7th of October 2020, the Honourable Councillor representing ward 12 Igwruita Ikwerre Local government area of Rivers state, Hon. Churchill Wali bagged 9News Nigeria “Good Governance Award” in acknowledgement of his remarkable performance both in infrastructural developments, human empowerment as well as humanitarian services that affected lives of people of his ward.
Honourable Churchil received the award during the event that culminated a 2-week long Free Skill Acquisition Program which he organised for the empowerment of the people of his ward in commemoration of his 40th birthday celebration.
Youths of the local government immensely benefited from the Free Skill Acquisition Programme that allowed them to learn skills such as shoe making, soap making, hair salon and barbing, bead crafts, catering services etc.
The beneficiaries expressed their joy of having the opportunity to acquire such skills that most of them have longed for, but having no funding to acquire the training.
Hon. Churchill Wali also received an Award of Excellence from the Nigerian National Union of Journalists (NUJ) Rivers state chapter.
