The Inspector-General of Police, Muhammad Adamu has confirmed the zonal re-arrangement of Nigerian Police force as recommended by the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, FNSE, FNATE during his visit to the Force Headquarters on Monday.
9news Nigeria recalls that Umahi had requested the IGP to remove Ebonyi from Police Zone 6 Calabar to Zone 9, Umuahia and equally create additional mobile squadron in the State.
This afternoon, we were informed from the IGP office that Ebonyi State Command has been removed from Police Zone 6, Calabar to Police Zone 9, Umuahia.
This has become imperative in achieving the policing of our Nation’s dream.
It is pertinent to note that before the rearrangement, Zone 6, Calabar command comprises Akwa-ibom, Cross-River, Rivers and Ebonyi state while Zone 9 comprises Abia, Anambra, Enugu and Imo, making Ebonyi the only Southeast state that is not in Zone 9.
