Crime has returned to the streets of Owerri municipality and its suburb areas since the inception of Governor Uzodinma’s as the governor of the state.

Not that the governor has allowed such to comeback but people have taken advantage of lawlessness to perpetuate crime to avert sanity and riddicle governance.

This observation is confirmable through the residents and traders withing the streets.

9News Nigeria authoritatively gathered that the street lights are no longer functional thereby making the streets and roads dark at nights. Also the operation Search and Flush peddled with the responsibility to check crime in the state are not seen on regular service to checkmate criminals that have returned to owerri unlike in the previous administration of the ousted Governor Ihedioha when Operation Iron Gate was very active and shown readiness to curb crime.

On this therefore the men of underworld now could find it easy to operate and embarras people going their ways even at day times.

Information gathered revealed that some of the sacked taskforce agents are involved in such a mess and has vowed to distract the governments.

Along Douglas road, task force agent liase with the traders to allow them block the streets and major roads to sale their markets.

This is also happening at various unapproved motor parks scattered all over the streets thereby increasing crime and setting the policies of government backwards.

Royce road is another danger area to work or trade at nights. IMSU back gate, Chukwuma Nwaoha, Nekede Old road, West End area, Tetlow, Mbaise road, Edede street, World bank, Concord avenue,Irete, Amokaohia, Orji,Christ church area, Orlu road by ALVAN and many more streets in town are danger points these criminals and illegal task forces operate.

Some of these criminals have resorted to the rural communities to peddle hard drugs, rape young girls and steal people’s property.

This has increased at this time of Ember and COVID 19 pandemic coupled with the annoucement to clamp on Yahoo boys in the state. It is the responsiblity of government to secure its citizens and provide their social walfare.

The people are calling on the Government of the 3R policy of Senator Hope Uzodinma to help repair the streets, prosecute offenders of government policies on road block, illegal motor parks and street trading to sanitize Imo state.
