The Ijaw Youth Council IYC has launched a regional security outfit known as Niger Delta Region Special Defense.
President of IYC Peter Igbifi during the inauguration of Zone One of the Niger Delta Region Special Defense tasked the commanding officers to ensure the protection of facilities and people of the region.
He said the Niger Delta Region Special Defense will work with other security agencies to ensure the waterways are safe in the region.
President of Ijaw Youth Council IYC Peter Igbifa also called on all state houses of assembly in the Niger Delta region to enact laws that will back up the regional security.
Our Correspondent reports that members of zone one of the Niger Delta Region Special Defense said they are committed to the protection of lives and property in the region.
