Breaking: Kogi Governor Declares Free Education For Primary, Sec Schools, Orders Sharing Of Rice, Huge Cash Across Polling Units

KOGI STATE: Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State have set an enviable pace among all his co- Governors in Nigeria by his trending application of the Federal Government dolled out Palliative to cushion the dangerous effects of fuel subsidy.

Government House Sources in Lokoja hinted Our Newsmen that the distribution of Kogi State palliative takes place at all the electoral polling units as ordered by the Governor.

Still on the palliative largesse, Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello of Kogi state, has declared free education from primary to secondary schools as part of the palliatives to cushion the effects of the petroleum subsidy removal.

Kogi State Government would also be responsible for the payment of the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC), National Examination Council (NECO) and Joint Admission And Matriculation Board,(JAMB) examinations for indigent students.

Flagging off the distribution of the Federal Government’s palliatives on Thursday, in the state, Governor Yahaya Bello, commended the federal government’s efforts at mitigating the impacts of the fuel subsidy removal on the citizens.

Our correspondent gathered that each polling units may have about six 50 kg bags of rice and over 200,000 naira cash to be distributed to the beneficiaries.

“Everyone is expected to benefit from this initiative, regardless of their political, religious, or ethnic affiliations, including security personnel,” Gov Bello Warned.

He however disclosed that the palliatives, which were valued over N2bn, would reach intended beneficiaries regardless of political, religious, or ethnic affiliations.

The Governor, who hailed the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the well conceived idea, said, “You are aware that all the local government areas of the state have already commenced the distribution of rice and other essential items.

Therefore, this launch is essentially an extension of our ongoing efforts to cushion the impact of the current policy on our citizens.

“We are not only distributing rice but also making cash available to reach the people. The total value of what we are launching for distribution today exceeds N2 billion, and it is intended to reach every household in Kogi State. We have decentralized the distribution to ensure that every household benefits.

In addition, Kogi Governor has emphasized that those responsible for the distribution must not discriminate, warning that any report of bias or favouritism and hoarding would be dealt with decisively.

He also called on security agencies to ensure a peaceful and smooth distribution process in the state.
