A late 93rd minute goal by Joshua King from the penalty spot secured an important draw for Norway after a well-fought battle on the pitch.
Spain had taken the lead in the 46th minute after Saul Niguez’s cool finish with an assist from Sergio Busquet, but the Norwegians kept the steam burning in search of an equalizer.
Knowing fully well that a victory would grant them automatic qualification into next year’s prestigious European competition, Spain were relaxed and comfortable with their one-goal lead and they were cruising into victory when Kepa Arrizabalaga fouled Omar Elabdellaoui in the penalty box. There was no doubt in the mind of Referee Michael Oliver as he promptly pointed to the spot for a penalty kick.
Bournemouth striker, Joshua King stepped up and slotted the ball into the left corner of the post. It was his third goal from the penalty spot for the Norwegians in the qualifier.
The result means that Spain would have to wait for their next match against Sweden to decide their automatic qualification.
