English Premier League Champions, Liverpool, have completed and confirmed the signing of Spanish star, Thiago Alcantara, from Bayern Munich. The midfielder has signed a 4-year contract reportedly worth £25million that will keep him at Anfield till 2024.
On his arrival, Thiago will wear the no. 6 jersey and will be expected to add some technical balance to the Liverpool midfield, as they start the campaign to defend their title.
Reacting to the much anticipated signing, former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher, said Thiago would be a really good addition to the Liverpool team.
“Liverpool have got five or six midfield players – they rotate well because they need energy in that position – but a lot of the players are pretty similar,” said Carragher.
“Thiago would be something different – less in energy but more technical – and I think he would be a really good addition.
“Liverpool are world-class at the top end of the pitch, world-class in terms of their defence and goalkeeper; I think they’re top-class in midfield. Something could be added technically and Thiago fits the bill, so fingers crossed he comes.”
Thiago was in the Bayern Munich team that won the treble last season, including the UEFA Champions League when they beat PSG in the final in Lisbon.
