The Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) In Isiokpo breach in Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State intercepted a man who claimed to be a lawyer during a proceeding in the Magistrate court in Isiokpo today 24th January 2024.
Information reaching us that the Nigeria Bar Association branch chairman of Isiokpo, Dr Cashmia Ofurum influenced the arrest of one Self-acclaimed lawyer, D.A Amadi Esq, who pretended to be a legal practitioner in court sitting.
The self-acclaimed lawyer, D.A Amadi Esq was detected after he announced his appearance as a legal practitioner in an open court sitting before the presiding judge but could not identify himself properly.
He was asked to provide his SC Enrollment Number or any document that granted him a license to practice as a lawyer but he couldn’t.
From our investigation the said self-acclaimed lawyer has been appearing in court to defend his client all this while he was not noticed but today luck ran out of him.
The honorable court ordered his arrest, and he also made some confessional statements that he was not a legal practitioner.
He is hoping to write the NLS Resit Examination this year.
The self-acclaimed lawyer has been handed over to the law enforcement agency (Nigerian Police Force ) for further investigation.
