Rector Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Engr. Dr. Michael Chidiebere Arimanwa FNSE, JP has gone tough on members of staff who exploit students in whatever guise. He has vowed to exert appropriate sanctions on such staff offenders ranging from queries to denial of promotion.
The Rector declared his stand against exploitative tendencies yesterday while interfacing with the officials of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS). In a bid to demonstrate commitment to this declaration, the highly celebrated Rector has released a set of phone numbers through the SERVICOM unit of the polytechnic.
The numbers are: 08033413811, 08037804959 and 08099269702.
Dr ARIMANWA has already directed the unit to protect the identities of students who make reports to them.
With this courageous action by the Rector, the ball is now in the courts of students to be bold enough to expose extortionist lecturers and workers who sell grades, services, makes textbooks compulsory as well as seeks sexual gratification.
According to some students interviewed by the press “these acts of exploitation and intimidation are mostly experienced by students from lecturers, screening officers and some other units where students have transactions to make”
