The Deputy Speaker of House Of Representatives, Honourable Benjamin Kalu has declared that the next Governor of Abia State will be a Governor from the All Progressives Congress, APC.
9News Nigeria reports that the current Governor of Abia State, Chief Alex Otti won the 2023 Governorship election on the platform of Labour Party despite efforts by then ruling party, People’s Democratic Party for the election to be declared inconclusive.
In a viral video seen by 9News Nigeria correspondent on Monday, Benjamin Kalu bragged that he won’t be number six citizen of Nigeria and his governor will come from another party.
According to him,“I Say This without mincing word , the Next Governor of Abia State in 2027 Will Be APC Governor”.
He further said, “this is the last time Labour Party will Govern Abia State , I cannot be number 6 Citizen of Nigeria and another party will take over my State”.
Meanwhile, mixed reactions has greeted his statement with many people lamabastng him saying it’s too early for such statement.
Benjamin Okezie Kalu was born on May 5, 1971 in Agbamuzu, Bende Local Government Area[2] of Abia State, Nigeria.
Kalu’s political career began in 2002 when he contested for the House of Representatives primaries. He served as the Local Government Chairman (Transition) for Bende Local Government Area, Abia State and held various advisory roles to the then Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu.
In 2011 and 2015, he contested for the House of Representatives elections, representing Progressive Peoples Alliance at that time, but lost in both elections.
On 23 February 2019, Kalu, representing the ruling All Progressives Congress defeated Chima Anyaso of the People’s Democratic Party and won the seat to represent Bende federal constituency, Abia State in the House of Representatives.
