Security forces have taken over control of a military base in Ngoshe town, a community in Gwoza local government area of Borno State, from Boko Haram terrorists.
The operation was a collaborative effort between the Nigerian military, members of the Civilian Joint Task Force CJTF, hunters, and local vigilante groups on Tuesday.
This was following an attack on the base as well as civilian population by the terrorists group last week Wednesday asserting control.
The terrorists have also taken hundreds of people captives.
It was also reported that the insurgents have advanced to nearby community before the takeover by security forces.
However, the takeover is not without a fight as the troops engaged the remaining insurgents in a gun battle.
While the military base is now under the control of government troops, it is not yet clear whether the surrounding community is secured.
The base is located about one kilometre from the base.
There is also no report on any rescue of abducted persons.
However, this newspaper had reported earlier that unspecified number of people have escaped from the terrorists grip.
More details later.
