A tragic incident occurred in the Sector 5 Area along Zazaga plaza in Bukuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State on Monday leading to a significant unrest.
A stray bullet allegedly struck a resident, during an altercation between local youths and Task Force.
A resident of the area who spoke on anonimity to 9News Nigeria -Jos correspondent, said, “the TaskForce official had been in the area the previous day being Sunday to demolish structures deemed illegal as directed by the State Government.
“The Task Force officials returned today being Monday to continue with their operation, but were confronted by local shops owners and irate youths.
“In response to the confrontation, Security Personnel attached to the team fired shots into the air, but stray bullet reportedly hit one of the youth in chest, resulting to his immediate death”.
9News Nigeria reports that the incident has sparked considerable tensions, as youths in area began burning tires in protest, while others ran for safety.
Houses, cars has been razed, while other valuables carted away as a result of the pandemonium.
Authorities have been urged to restore normalcy and address the concerns of the local community.
