Abdulmumin Jibrin who is Tinubu’s Presidential Campaign Director-General has announced his exit from the All-Progressives Congress – APC, 9news Nigeria learnt.

9news Nigeria is reporting that Abdulmumin Jibrin, a former federal lawmaker, was recently named the Campaign Director General of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential campaign. However, he recently announced his resignation from the party to which he defected from the now opposition Peoples Democratic Party – PDP.

Only a few days ago, the South West APC stakeholders and presidential aspirants gathered for a crucial meeting to discuss key concerns surrounding the 2023 election.

Although the meeting did not go as anticipated, 9news Nigeria has it on good authority that when the question of consensus candidature was brought up, all of the candidates remained silent and refused to comment.

According to 9news Nigeria, the meeting, which included a melodramatic scene in which Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, refused to shake hands or sit close to Iyiola Omisore, the freshly elected National Secretary of the APC, did not go as planned.

According to certain insiders who spoke to 9news Nigeria in confidence, since Tinubu’s team did not announce his disengagement before now, Abdulmumin Jibrin’s resignation from the APC at this critical time might be for one of two reasons. One of them could be following his principal’s instructions or to pursue his own political career.

Tinubu has been rumoured to be mulling moving to the Social Democratic Party – SDP if he detects any shady expectations from the next APC primaries, and yesterday’s meeting may have given the Lagos strongman hints of what is to come.

Whichever way the pendulum goes, Jibrin’s resignation is an indication of something to come because, only nine hours ago, he wrote on his verified Facebook page, “HON ABDULMUMIN JIBRIN KOFA CONTINUE CONSULTATION IN KANO in support of our great party APC, political aspirations of Governor Ganduje, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his good self in Kano”.

We will continue to serve you update on this as things unfold.
