A 400-level law student from the Department of Private and Property Law at the University of Abuja has been taken into custody by the FCT police over a disturbing rape incident involving a 100-level female student.
Reliable sources reveal that Goodluck Monday Ayebanoa, a student of the same department and level, was detained following a complaint from the victim. The Federal Capital Territory Police confirmed his arrest in connection with the case.
According to reports, the victim—whose name remains undisclosed due to her sensitive condition—shared her harrowing experience through a voice recording on WhatsApp. She alleged that she met the suspect at the Dean of Student Affairs’ office, where he falsely claimed to be a student union leader offering financial assistance. She claims he then deceived her, overpowered her forcibly, and had sexual intercourse with her, an ordeal that has left her emotionally devastated and fearful.
In our efforts to gather more information, we contacted Samuel Isaac, the Provost Marshal of the NANS FCT JCC, who confirmed the allegations and the suspect’s arrest.
We will continue to monitor the case and share further details as the investigation develops.
