Valentine Ozigbo has won the PDP Primary election held in Awka on Saturday 26th June 2021 and now the party’s candidate for November Anambra State Governorship election.
The result of the primaries was announced by the Chairman of the PDP Anambra State primaries election, Edo State Deputy Governor, Phillip Shuaibu who declared Valentine Ozigbo the winner of the just concluded PDP Anambra State governorship primaries in Awka.
Out of the16 PDP governorship aspirants that contested in the primary election, Valentine Ozigbo emerged the winner with 62 votes.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Valentine Ozigbo thanked the party leadership for such a transparent election and asked his fellow contestants to join hand with him and ensure that PDP takes over the seat of governorship in Anambra State for the good of all.
“I want to appreciate my fellow aspirants, as I don’t think that there are any winners as losers. We all are the winners. I want to beg and plead with all my fellow aspirants that participated in this to understand the need for us to come together to work in harmony because that is the only thing that will make us conquer.”
“As for the Anambra people, this is the beginning of something great. We are here to change our story. This is to show that Anambra State will be returned to PDP come November 6 election”
Valentine Ozigbo clinched the primaries with 62 votes to defeat his closest rival, Obiora Okonkwo and Senator Uche Ekwunife who got 58 and 44 votes respectively.
Recall that on 10th June 2021, Valentine Ozigbo floored Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, Dr Godwin Maduka, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, Godwin Ezeemo, Senator Uche Ekwunife in a Viral Online Poll conducted by 9News Nigeria ahead of Anambra Governorship election party primaries.
Other candidates that participated in the viral online poll include, Chuma Nzeribe, Dr Ifedi Okwenna, Johnbosco Onukwo, Dr Tony Nwoye, Chris Azubogu, Okwudili Ezenwankwo, and Paul Orajiaka.
The poll conducted by 9News Nigeria shows that out of 13,870 vote casts, PDP frontrunner, Valentine Ozigbo polled a total of 2,770 votes to emerge the winner while the All Progressives Congress Alliance (APGA) aspirant, Prof Charles Soludo polled 2,705 to come second in the viral online poll.
The only female candidate among the governorship aspirants, Senator Uche Ekwunife polled a total of 988 votes to come 6th in the line.
